A human resource manager will oversee all the facets of employment practices and employee relations (Kehoe & Wright, 2013).
The essential duties will include talent recruitment and management, hiring and conducting interviews, and employee orientation. Also
a human resource manager will be required to mediate and solve employee conflicts and assist managers with discipline and termination of employees. Other duties will include employee payroll management, employee benefits management, and ensure human resource policies comply with the law.
Job Specification
A human resource manager is required to perform the following duties and responsibilities, according to Heathfield (2018):
- Analyze wage and salary reports and data to determine competitive compensation plan.
- Give direction to managers on the policies regarding equal employment, compensation, and employee benefits.
- Recruit, interview, tests, and select suitable employees’ candidates.
- Keep employees’ records regarding benefits participation.

Assignment 2: Selection
Selection Criteria
The company will focus on educational qualification, experience, and core competencies to shortlist the candidates. At the interview, the suitable candidate needs to show the ability to communicate and lead, pass the test with over 70 percent and answer to the interview questions satisfactorily.
Qualities of an Excellent Resume
The company will resume quality as a selection criterion. The resume must have a positive look by proper use of white space (Griffin, Attaway, & Griffin, (2018). Bullets are more apt to read than long texts. Resume should have a readable font that is at least 12 – Arial or Times New Roman font with a margin of 1 inch.
Resume should be limited to one page and one-page cover letter which should not be a duplicate of the resume content. Also, a good resume should have no typos or grammatical errors and avoid the use of gimmicky colors or pictures. The resume should include education background, skills, and experience attained chronologically.
Interview Plan
The candidates will arrive at 8:00 am and register for an interview. The interviews will be conducted as per their arrival and registration. A maximum of 20 minutes will be used to interview each candidate. That means 3 hours and 20 minutes will be enough for the whole interview. The interview will end at 11:30 am.
