The nature and meaning of the term “hero” in the modern context have changed dramatically owing to changes in time and events (Gallo, 2017). As such you can hear a child says that his/her dad is the hero while others say their mum is a hero. The view on heroism depends on the personalities and experiences of each person.

However, the broader view of modern heroism goes beyond that. In the context of Beowulf epic poem, heroism is not within the confine of the family or friends, but instead, it extends beyond that the whole community to the society or a nation. The act of heroism is not for personal gain but for the good of the whole community and which is extra-ordinally, selfless, impactful.

The common traits in all of them as like in Beowulf are fearlessness, selflessness, and love for there people.
