(“had wished”还可以用简易过去时,由于,它和stop必沒有显著的时差。相比下,”had stopped”这姿势就显著比’reach’也要早产生。)
2. 描述以往一件事时,回溯到该件事更早的时间点。
I was watching TV when suddenly the ground began to shake. We had already had a small quake earlier that day. The expert said on TV that we might have another one later that night, so I had been prepared. Still, my heart beat fast because I was scared. The shake did not stop….
(用时间副词“earlier that day”将小故事带到更早时间点,因此,早些时候的地震灾害就用”had had”,而充分准备则用”had been prepared”,以后,時间拉回小故事产生时下,关键姿势也返回简易过去时。)
自然,还可以将第一和第二个语句生成一句,用 ‘when’ 连贯性2个恶性事件:
We had already had a small quake earlier in the evening WHEN suddenly the ground began to shake again.
